A Vegetable Patch

School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom, reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food, and teach them valuable gardening and agriculture concepts.

The proposal to grow a “school vegetable patch”, is a new concept related to what is called the “ non commercial patch”, that is to say: familiar, communitary, scientific patch which has as a main aim to produce fruit and vegetables for their own profit.

It has other objectives, for example, to improve the quality of nutrition because in some occasions and areas in the world, it is used to feed people that need natural food and, why not, free of charges. Another objective is to favour and contribute to a better environment education. It also helps to reinforce school instrumental subjects like; social an natural science, technology, even languages and maths. To finish with to grow a vegetable patch has all the ingredients to help develop the personality of the students in all senses and to get good and natural products for their physical development.
